This poem was written for a Court Baroncy scroll given out at the Coronation of Thorvald Halvorsen and Svava Thorgeirsdottir on 10/2/04 in the Barony of Carolingia, Kingdom of the East. The recipient’s name is Ruadh-Mairi Asan T’Eilean Sgithenech.

The wording is done in an Irish poetry format called Rannaicheacht Ghairid. The poem follows the form of a quatrain stanza with uneven lines. The first line has three syllables, the other three have seven. The stanza rhymes a a b a, with a cross-rhyme between lines three and four.

I did have a little trouble with the last stanza trying to get the Society year in. You don’t actually say the AS part when reading it allowed – it will hopefully be understood.

Welcome here,
Listen to those that serve us,
All who would hear on this day,
What We say of this service.

Attend Us,
Listen to these mighty words,
So that you may know of one,
Who has birds and shines like sun.

Pay us heed,
For she puts on her blunt hat,
Brings food and sorts through paper,
Lights taper so We may see,

On this day,
Do We seek to honor her,
And make her Court Baroness,
Nothing less for Ruadh for sure.

So do We,
Thorvald King by right of Arms,
and Svava most lovely Queen,
who are keen on this girls charms.

Make it so,
And also grant unto her,
The sole right to bear her arms,
And no harm shall be done her

We declare,
At this Our Coronation,
On October the Second ,
By Our hands this shall be done.
