Rhodes Abbey

Welcome to Rhodes Abbey. My name is Sister Kymme and we are located in the South of England in the year 1038.

Mundaely, we are a group of reenactors who are interested in the daily lives of nuns and monks during the middle ages. We formed this group to share research and to participate (whenever feasible) in some of the daily activities of Abbey life.

We have found some very interesting facts about monastic life:

Nuns shaved their heads to prevent lice infestations
Husbands and wives could enter the Order together, but could no longer have relations
