Julia Godmunsdottir AoA
This East Kingdom scroll was awarded 4/3/04. The borders around the knotwork are based on the style of the Lindisfarne Gospels. The knotwork was done freehand with "extra" ribbons for faces and dog's heads. The trees of life are similar to the ones I did for the Jan Pikestaff cover. The cats on the bottom are the Celtic representation of the "lion lies down with the lamb." The cats are lying with a mouse and a dove and are "tuxedo" cats like the ones Julie owns. The oghams (celtic sybols used to send messages) on the sides spell out (as closely as possible) "Julie Rocks."
A drop of water fell on the caligraphy after completion (see the pic). Since I used Bristol board, the repair sucks as I have found out there is not much you can do to fix problems like this on this type of paper. I did try to lightly scrape and then paint in the area - but am still disappointed with the results.
